With the Voyage Planner module in OneOcean 2021, users can visualise the critical factors that determine routing decisions, by viewing all the data required in a comprehensive passage plan on a single screen. This includes weather forecasts, NavArea warnings, piracy reports, environmental zones, and port data overlaid atop a map interface and ENC data.

This new functionality replaces siloed processes of the past. By coalescing data into one dynamic screen, there is no need to toggle back and forth between screens to evaluate elements separately. Users can work more efficiently and save a great deal of time by conducting all appraisal and planning activity in one place.

One Dynamic Interface

The Voyage Planner module of PassageManager overlays layers of maritime data from multiple sources to show how a route will be affected by various factors. This allows users to visually plot a course that is safe, compliant and timely. All the data required in a comprehensive passage plan is presented on a single screen. These layers contain information from other modules in the OneOcean platform, including Weather, EnviroManager and Ports, that can be turned on and off. The display also populates dynamically as the user zooms in, providing just the right level of detail.

By unifying workflows, OneOcean can now enable full, end-to-end passage planning, incorporating route generation, safety checks, optimisations and scenario evaluation in one place. Once a route has been finalised, a passage plan can be generated.

Dynamic Updating

After a passage plan document has been created and approved, if an update needs to be made, it can be regenerated, in part or in full and sent for re-approval. There is no need to manually search and reconfigure each element revision in the event of a change in circumstances such as a delay in the departure time, change of route or amended event waypoints as this is done automatically.

Account for Weather

During a voyage, OneOcean also provides live route recommendations based on weather-related factors such as navigational safety, operational events and fuel performance. The algorithms amalgamate and analyse data sets in order to recommend an optimal route. This also integrates seamlessly with other voyage planning elements. Additionally, users can set ship-specific safety thresholds for variables such as wave heights and wind speeds. In turning the weather layer on, they may see that the default route would take them through an area with high wind and waves and choose to adjust accordingly.

These thresholds can be used both during the voyage and in the planning process to determine weather risks. Users can see weather forecasts and predictions of how they will impact the vessel at each stage of a journey.

Determine the Safety of Routes
